Steven Huang Former Head Organizer, Beijing
After only five short years in Taiwan, Steven was whisked away to the United States, tightly clutching his favorite baby blanket (a rabbit family flying a propeller plane). Following in his father's footsteps, Steven pursued an engineering degree at Cornell University. There he joined the Cornell University Glee Club, an all-male vocal ensemble, and he still participates as an active Glee Club alumnus, assisting with activities and attending concerts. After graduation, Steven accepted a position at Andersen Consulting in New York. After working with many clients and numerous engagements, Steven gained valuable experience on the entire technology project life-cycle. The consulting position took Steven to engagements throughout the world, including Atlanta, Hong Kong, and the Philippines. In the Fall of 1999, Steven began studies at the New York University Stern School of Business, in pursuit of his MBA degree. In his first year at Stern, Steven and his five teammates won the NYU Stern Integrated Strategy Exercise (ISE), a group project to evaluate and propose a long-term strategy for an actual company. He was also selected to be one of seven students to receive a Glucksman Research Fellowship. In his second year at Stern, Steven participated as an officer of both the Technology and New Media Group and the Strategic Operations Club. He was selected to be the student speaker at Stern's BGS Honor Society induction ceremony. He graduated from Stern with a MBA degree, with distinction, in finance and management. Following graduation, Steven worked for ChoiceMaker Technologies, and helped the startup company organize and develop its business plan, create the company's five-year financial model, and raise venture capital investment. In early 2002, Steven was approached with a unique opportunity to work in the People's Republic of China, where he is now located. Steven is now a Vice President at Shipston Group Limited, an international private equity firm with a number of diversified investments in the United States, Eastern Europe, Russia and China. The company focuses on investment opportunities in the heavy industry, manufacturing and natural resource sectors. Though Steven still has his baby blanket tucked away safely at home, it is sorely missed in China.
