Jennifer Gwan
Organizer, New York

Jennifer was born and raised in Taipei, completed high school in Vancouver and went to the University of Utah in the States where she majored in architecture and interior design. She was destined to be a global professional before she even knew it!

Jennifer first visited New York in 1999 and magically got an exciting job opportunity during her second week there! Without a place to stay, nor did she know anyone in the Big Apple at the time, Jennifer took on the exciting challenge of winging it on her own, thinking critically, living creatively, and making the most out of her newfound adventures.

Having worked for numerous well-known architecture firms in New York, Jennifer currently works for Saks Fifth Avenue's high-end retailer group as a vendor shop project manager in store planning, architectural and interior design, where she's been since 1995. Her bright and optimistic personality always brought her good friends from work and everywhere else that she goes. She appreciates the exciting work experience, vibrant cultural diversity, new friends, art, music and rich history of New York.

Jennifer is a Western-trained, Asian professional and speaks Mandarin, Taiwanese, Cantonese and English. She is always interested in connecting with the Asian communities wherever she goes, so getting involved with ORIENTED was a no-brainer for her. Just like her first-time visit to New York, Jennifer experienced that same "Aha!" moment when she attended her first ORIENTED Happy Hour in New York in November 2007. She was overwhelmed to meet so many multicultural business professionals who share a common interest in Asian business and partnerships.

Jennifer is honored to have this opportunity to be an official organizer for ORIENTED New York and looks forward to contributing her efforts to growing this amazing and vibrant "BMW" community. =)
