Gloria Yeung
Co-Head Organizer, Hong Kong

Gloria is a true native to Hong Kong. When she was 12, her parents sent her off to an all-girls boarding school in Shrewsbury, UK where, even as head-prefect she managed to cause much ruckus around her. She then came back to her hometown, went to its best university, and got a bachelor degree in Economics and Finance at the University of Hong Kong.

Gloria found her first job with a legal publishing firm before moving on to organizing high-attendance training seminars for lawyers. Later on, she knew that she needed to equip herself with a groove for speaking Putonghua, so she packed her things and off to Shanghai she went! Now, you would ask, why didn't she choose to go to Beijing instead, with the better known language institutes? Well, after some thought (though it really didn't take her that long!), she still decided the party scene, the mingling with the big cats of the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai to be the better language and social classroom! So in 2003, she spent nearly a full year meeting people, reaching out for friendships with people from all over the world. They were a class of people, like Gloria, who shared the belief that China held much opportunities and perhaps a rewarding future for them. While working hard in the classroom, they also submerge themselves to learning about the growing economy and social life of the roaring tiger of China.

Back in Hong Kong, Gloria immediately won a position with a legal conference organizer responsible for organizing events across the whole Asia Pacific Region. It was a great job for her, as it gave her many challenges to tackle, and above all else - it gave her the opportunity to travel monthly, somewhere else in the Asia-Pacific region for jobs. With her new language skills she enjoyed better command of her duties in places such as China or Taiwan. This work also allowed her to integrate all her skills and passion; for networking and meeting fascinating and remarkable people.

So much did Gloria enjoy networking and meeting all these new and interesting people, she then jumped to her next project, which was fulfilling her dream of opening a private social lounge. Believe it or not, her lounge was one of the most talked about phenomena in the Central party scene. Not just about parties (although the spirit of it is always about partying), Gloria was able to organizing full house events such as her wine tasting, speed-dating, quiz night, or networking cocktails! It really taught her and many of her friends that, to have a good time out, doesn't necessarily entail hanging out in bars and clubs and losing it all, in fact - its all about winning! Winning friends, social contacts, learning new insights, etc.

After realizing her dream of opening her own successful social lounge, and having too much fun along the way, Gloria felt she was a crouching tiger ready to face the corporate world again! She immediately grew fond and passionate about the business of recruitments, legal recruitments to be exact! Through the years of working in Hong Kong, she has made and kept many friends and close contacts with people in the legal field. She finally found a career that combined all her skills, experiences, passions & expertise.

Gloria loves to meet new friends, get newcomers to her hometown settled, put together parties / dinners / hikes / barbecues. You name it! She is your international friendly party organizer for all occasions. She has a plethora of hobbies, nightlife, outdoor sports and traveling being her favorites!

Gloria learned about the ORIENTED Happy Hours through a friend from London and has enjoyed attending since. It's a great way to meet people, make contacts and get to know new bars in town. Getting involved would mean that she can get to know those who are new in town, and she looks forward to meeting new and interesting people.
