Gary Huang Organizer, Los Angeles
Hailing from the urban streets of Los Angeles, Gary first stumbled upon ORIENTED in early 2003 while braving SARS in Shanghai.
Gary is a China enthusiast and entrepreneur who has spent several years exploring the middle kingdom. He got his start while studying abroad at Beijing University. It was here where he fine-tuned his Mandarin language skills and got his first taste of "bai jiu". Later, he returned to China upon college graduation to complete a graduate program in China Studies in a quaint, not-so-little town called Nanjing. Finally he decided to take the English teaching route in the bohemian paradise that is Shanghai. Who knew that people-watching at Starbucks and lounging in jazz clubs in China could be so gratifying? Currently, Gary runs and manages Avenue 26 - an online store selling women's footwear and apparel. Gary has a degree from USC in East Asian Studies and Business. He is also a graduate of the Hopkins Nanjing Center. In his spare time, he enjoys playing guitar and exploring the culinary art of pastry making. Gary looks forward to bringing together L.A.-based China enthusiasts from all walks of life to exchange ideas about their business and social endeavors.
