Andrew Huang
Former Organizer, Beijing

Andrew was born in Chicago and made his first trip across the Pacific to Hong Kong at the tender age of six months. He attended nursery school in Boston, elementary school in Larchmont (New York), middle school and high school at the Taipei American School (TAS), and college at Columbia University back in New York City where he received his undergraduate degree in Economics and Political Science.

Upon graduation, Andrew worked for three years in the Global Investment Research division at Goldman Sachs where he covered diversified media, TV and radio broadcasting, and interactive television stocks. Yet, in spite of his great job (smart people, good money), New York City (best city in the world), and many a friend in the surrounding area, Andrew needed a change of scenery and made a rather abrupt decision to move halfway around the world to Beijing and take up an offer from another former Goldman colleague to become Chief Financial Officer of Pan Media, a media production company.

In addition to his day job and his new position as an ORIENTED Beijing Organizer, Andrew works as an investment consultant in a number of entrepreneurial ventures, serves as co-President of the Beijing Columbia Alumni Association, and plans to take classes in contemporary Chinese history at Beijing University. He is enjoying his time in Beijing and loves the diversity and the "realness" of the people, and the cultural knowledge he is gaining about China.

Andrew plays basketball and soccer, swims, runs, snowboards, treks, does yoga, and really enjoys the club scene in Beijing. He also likes to travel, having thus far been to every continent except Antarctica. In the last year alone, Andrew has hiked and kayaked in Ihla Grande, partied in Rio, white-water rafted on the Nile in Uganda, climbed Mount Kenya, nearly got kissed by a lion during a safari in Tanzania, and chilled on the beaches of Zanzibar. Andrew is also a film buff, a music lover, and a big fan of good food.
