Organizational Structure

Program Director (Global)

The Program Director manages the overall coordination of the ORIENTED Happy Hours worldwide. Duties include:

  • Recruiting, training and supporting new Head Organizers
  • Expanding our Happy Hour presence to new territories
  • Managing member databases, mailing lists, and newsletters
  • Executing on global improvement initiatives
  • Developing internal policies and procedures

Webmaster (Global)

The Webmaster is responsible for providing web, email and other technical support to all ORIENTED organizing teams worldwide. Each team pays a monthly webmaster fee directly to him for his services.

Events Planning Teams (Local)

In each city, the local events planning team is responsible for planning and promoting the monthly ORIENTED Happy Hours in accordance with our global guidelines and event schedule, for managing their budgets, and for actively encouraging people to become members.

Organizing teams are expected to require minimum to no guidance from home office after the second month of operation.

  1. Head Organizers

Option 1: The recommended team structure involves two Co-Head Organizers who are good friends with each other and who have worked together in the past.

Option 2: An alternative team structure involves only one Head Organizer, who is then fully responsible for recruiting his/her own team as needed.

  2. Team Organizers (unofficial)

Head Organizers and Co-Head Organizers are welcome to recruit an unlimited number of people to join their teams. It is not necessary to check in with the Program Director about unofficial organizers.

  3. Team Organizers (official)

Those who are to be recognized on the website as official organizers must submit these materials to headquarters before ORIENTED email accounts and organizer profiles can be set up.

  4. Freelance Photographers

Freelance photographers are responsible for taking event photos and uploading them to the ORIENTED website immediately following each event in return for free entry and a complimentary ad on the photo album slideshow to promote his/her services (see example).

Do NOT let team organizers take photos unless they know what they are doing. In the past, horrible photos have scared new site visitors away - that's not what we want. Help... !

  5. Webmaster

Instead of having a local webmaster on each team in each location, all teams share the resources of one central webmaster.
